What’s Happening in Florida
The Need for Greater Enforcement
With more than 73 underground utility line strikes happening every day in Florida, coupled with unprecedented levels of excavation given the state’s top-rank for construction activity, Florida’s growth isn’t slowing down and neither is the potential risks for damage to an already fragile network of underground facilities – risks that can pose serious danger to public safety.
Unfortunately, the topic of damage prevention to underground facilities isn’t something that generates the attention it deserves until a disaster strikes or there is loss of life. Greater enforcement of the law can help change that – to prevent damages, change behaviors and hold those accountable who aren’t adhering to the law.
Since every county in Florida is individually responsible for enforcing the law in their jurisdictions, we encourage you to check out all the information on this page to learn more about the law, how to enforce it and issue citations.
